Hi all! My family and I are embarking on this adventure to raise a mixed breed sustainable flock. We have 4 week old pullets headed our way the first week of April.
This first flock will consist of barred rock, buff orpingtons, a cuckoo maran, and one cinnamon queen. As we learn our chickens we will add additional breeds/ flocks based on preference. Looking forward to the wealth of knowledge offered here.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. Cinnamon Queen is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links. Not only can they be sexed by color at hatching, but they are egg laying machines. You should get loads of eggs from that girl.) I love the chocolate eggs of the Cuckoo Marans. In my personal opinion, they are the prettiest eggs in the chicken world. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome!

I'm glad you joined our community.

Sounds like you'll be getting a nice flock! You should get lots of eggs from the Cinnamon Queen and some lovely chocolate colored eggs from the Cuckoo Marans.
