Newbie from NY's Southern Tier (just below Central NY)

Hi, everyone! I have wanted chickens since I moved to this town nearly 40 years ago but for many reasons, it did not happen. I am now newly retired, widowed and going to do whatever I want...so, hoping to have my Amish coop delivered next week, and need to find a source for my hens. I don't really want to do chicks at this point since I am getting a late start.
Would any of you fine folks (perhaps from my area) happen to know where I could find 6-8 lovely layers...preferably brown or green eggs.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and asking a million questions as I go along. Thanks!

Hi...I'm from wny...I have seen a lot of hens and chicks on pennswoods.net classified. There are also some in NY...and maybe some close enough!

Thanks for the welcomes! I just found out about a livestock auction in the next town every Wednesday. Gotta get that coop set up fast! Will keep you all posted! Feeling lucky!

go to 'where am I, where are you,' and post on your state thread- you have a much better chance of finding someone in your area - not everyone follows she new members thread
