Hi! Such a helpful site. I have week old Barred Rocks and can't believe how fast they are growing! Panicking a bit because the coop isn't ready! May have to drag out the playpen and fix it up as a brooder!

I raised quite a large number of chicks in my son's playpen years ago and between the playpen and outside time during the day it went surprisingly well! Just watch they don't fly out. Those little things are FAST and they can hide very well.
