We have 2.5 acres just outside of town in the grass fields of Oregon. This is our first venture with chickens. We have 5 RIR and 5 black sex links that are about 6 weeks old. We have converted 8x24 dog kennels to chicken runs since we don't breed dogs any more. The plan is to let the girls free range in the back field and remain in covered runs in winter. we have been working on the coop and have just finished our auto coop door using mostly recycled parts (It was my daughters 2nd grade Da Vinci fair invention). I am just finishing my Master Recycler class thru Marion County public works program. More to come.............
