Good idea!I have mine set at 13" under the roost. That helps the birds that are looking for a spot on the roost find one without getting their heads pecked and leaves enough room under the roost for scooping the boards.

WelcomeHello. I'm new here and pretty new to raising chickens. I've had them about 6 months. I'm still pretty clueless about what I am doing. My family and I live near Aiken, SC in a small rural town.
My goal right now is installing roosts and a poop board in my new coop. I will look through previous posts for directions.

Don't they though !! My newbies have finally decided which direction they're going to face at night!Holy cow they poop... A LOT! I'm working on a poop board now. Thanks for the 8 inch suggestion!
