Hello all-

I'll answer the sample questions to the best of my ability.....

1. New to the raising of chickens world! Never owned or raised them. I do love eggs and chicken (hope the second love doesn't get me in trouble here)!

2. N/A

4. I believe that I would like to raise and care for chickens for many reasons: To involve my 15yo son, who has Autism, with all aspects of responsible caring and raising of chickens/roosters; to eat healthier; to enjoy the natural outdoor world more.

5. Fishing, fishing, fishing and working on my boat....I was previously a long time salt angler that now fishes primarily freshwater rivers and lakes.
I now want to learn.... to fly fish!

6. Family of 4. Wife and two sons.

7. Found BYC by searching information about building chicken coops.

Hope to learn from others and share as I learn.

Now, let the fun begin!!!
 
Hello and welcome to BYC! No better place for a budding chicken keeper!

I have a 12 year old autistic son. He adores the chickens and it truly is a great way to teach him about caring for others. They are small enough that he is able to do just about all of their care on his own and he loves it! There is no better way to raise a child than to raise them with animals and nature.

Go buy a fly rod and practice practice practice! You will call yourself a fly fishermen before you know it. It's addicting. 😉

Now those are some cool looking cookies!!! Very artistic! If you made these yourself, you're probably a great fly tyer as well!

I *may* have snagged that pic off of Pinterest. :oops::lol:

Once I'm all done baking, I generally don't even want to think about decorating lol!
