I have had my chickens for about 2 months and have had to reference this site at least every other week to make sure my chickens were acting "normal." I am so thankful for the wonderful information and helpful people on BackyardChickens. THANK YOU!

My chicken family consists of 2 Silkies, 3 Faverolles, 3 Brahmas, and 1 Easter Egger. I love all of them!

I was a little concerned my dogs (a Saint Bernard and a Bloodhound/Dane? Mix) would try to kill the chickens, but to my surprise they are all getting along very well. Hopefully the peace will continue.

Hello from Wise County. Unfortunately my dog wasn't as easy to train. She is a Australian Shepard Mix & although normally well behaved, she would loose her mind & want to go after the chicks. It took a shock collar & 2 good zaps to cure her. However, we can't let her see us chasing the chickens or she reverts back. We definitely don't leave her alone with the chickens.

I think the only reason my dogs don't chase the chickens is because one of my Faverolles flew towards my Saint Bernard and squawked which scared him. (Gus Gus is a big baby.) He keeps his distance now. I agree with you not to leave the dogs alone with the chickens. You never know how the dogs will act without supervision.
