(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We've had chickens for 2 years now. Our first was a chicken truck escapee, then we were hooked. However, we have sworn off roosters *forever*.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 4 right now, looking to add 1-2 more.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Two Buff Orpingtons, one black copper Maran, one Maran/Australorp cross.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Internet search. I've lurked on here for a while and benefited from questions/answers others have posted.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a veterinarian (limited experience in chicken medicine, but learning more all the time), and I like to cook, hike, and read.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have three kids, a little terrier mix oldster dog, two kittens, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Hi and welcome to BYC! So glad that you found us here in our litter corner of the internet. I have Buff Orpingtons as well. My girls are 8 years old and still going strong. They are the biggest and friendliest birds, they are my lap dog chickens. We are full of great people who love to share and talk about chickens. I hope that you make yourself at home here at BYC. :welcome
