hi all,
i live in the Midlands in the Britain and have used your site for help and advice for the last 12 months as i think it's a great resource.
It all started with 3 light sussex and 3 cuckcoo marans pol bought last June, and i now think I'm well and truly addicted to chickens.
I now have experimented with hatching eggs and in incubator and under broody hen, got 12 week old polish and orpington chicks and 1 week old pekins and wyandottes and a mixed batch of bantams in the incubator which are going to be put with broody hen after they hatch. It's a good thing we sending chickens through the post is illegal here or i may have been tempted to buy some more.
I need to stop hatching now as i am running out of space as I'm a sucker for a sob story as i also have 3 dogs( 2 rescued), 2 cats ( rescued 1 has 3 legs) , 5 rabbits (rescued)
P.S does anyone know how to get an ex broody hen back to the flock? We moved the run and house whilst she was with chicks and now seems confused to where she is supposed to go and has taken up residence almost permanently in my living room on the sofa. She free ranges with the other hens all day but gets distressed when she is in the main run which makes the others on edge and they started attacking her, and at the next available opportunity she legs it up to the house and has even been found asleep under a bed and sittiing in the upstairs bathroom.
Thanks for a great site look forward to reading and commenting on posts.
Liz
