They are going in the "bator" in a week. I'll fill with the 42 my auto turner will hold. I am also supplying our kindergarten classes with eggs for their incubators......and I take them home. For those who work during the day, the automatic turner is wonderful! I will have a doz. Marans, doz. Speckled Sussex, and a doz. Sweedish Flower. I buy hatching eggs off of someone I met up with a few years ago. Great, healthy stock! I'm hoping to hook up with someone on here that may be somewhat close to buy some hatching eggs. I would love to have some Deleware, Austrolorp, Barred Rock, Welsummer, Orpingtons...lol I am planning to sell the extra chicks and next year sell day old chicks of pure stock. We'll see how it goes.
That's a lot o' chicks! Nice breeds too.
Are you selling straight run or selling off the cockerels as they are identified?
I've never incubated. I was hoping for a broody to raise my day olds that are coming in April but no luck so far. Maybe next year. And I'll let them hatch their own eggs for an eclectic barnyard mix!
Good afternoon. I have "stocked" BYC for a long time....lol I live on a farm in WV with my two children and husband. I love chickens! We had gotten out of them for a good while....crazy reasons. I am getting ready to incubate to start our flock back. I love the heritage breeds, but am adding some Marans and Swedish Flowers to my flock. I also enjoy gardening. I have a small greenhouse we built several years ago. It provides us with all of our garden plants and I also sell many as well. I love crafting, learning the mandolin and church. I am a 4th grade teacher by profession. I love all the information this site provides.
Are you located somewhere around Charleston?
