If I have 1 rooster to 5 hens very long, at least one of his favorites ends up barebacked. I keep pairs and trios but not for long periods of time.
I would not keep all of those cockerels. First of all, it will get really musical for most of the day.
Since you only want fresh eggs, it really doesn't matter which one you keep.
You'll want to select the least human aggressive bird that appears to be a good flock protector.
Are you a vegetarian/vegan?
If not, I would start choosing which ones are definitely not keepers and occasionally cull one till you are down to your favorites. They taste just like chicken. If you had gotten your original request of just a single cockerel, someone or something would have eaten all the rest of the boys by now.
