Hi all,
I"m am new to the forum...I've been reading on the Backyard Chickens main page for many months..but finally discovered the forums.
I'm new to owning chickens (actually ordering my first group of them this week!)...but my uncle and cousin have always had chickens...now I'll have another place to go to find out about chickens! I am starting off with 15 cochin bantam's. I'm sure that I will be addicted in no time!
We've been gathering up wood and wire over the past few months to create our coop/run area. I wanted to see if we could build it using recycled materials vs buying new stuff. I'll have to post some pictures when it's all done.
I live in Maryland with my son, husband and step son...We also have other animals too--horses, dogs, a few stray kittens and snakes. My husband and I own a reptile company that raises ball pythons. It's a pretty interesting career and one that allows me to spend alot of time outside working with my animals.
I look forward to learning alot on this forum!
