Newbie Hello!

Hi! New here today and to chickens as of Saturday.

We bought:
1 Delaware pullet, a buff brahma, two sapphire olives, a brown pullet and two speckled sussex. They are 9 days old and in a brooding box with one of those flat brooding digital brooders.

I live at about 5,800 feet elevation with hot dry summers and varying cycles of snow/cold/50s winters of Colorado.

We're currently looking at Omlet.US cube, but haven't decided yet on the coop.
Welcome to BYC!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Do not use one of those plastic coops. I am south of you in New Mexico in the mountains as well. With our climate and cold, your birds will develop frostbite sleeping in plastic. You need a wooden coop that will absorb moisture, and retain some heat. Get a shed and convert if needed.

Welcome aboard!
