I'm so happy my kid found it. He's bot a sports kinda kid. His best friend does it and he loves it and is participating. I love that they learn showmanship, presentations, volunteering, etc. It's been so good for hhim He's loved chickens since he could chase them. Just so excited to be doing this. I'm currently learning how to speak chicken.
Welcome to BYC! I want to recommend cochins. It will be easier to find bantam cochin breeders and the pullets are ridiculously cute & friendly.That is correct. My son is on the spectrum and loves the smaller ones. Large Fowl intimidate him a bit. These are the breeds he picked....of course lol. I want to keep it to docile, people loving lap chickens. More pets than anything. Currently building the chicken Hilton for them.
TY! Do they do ok in really cold weather? Do you know any breeders near CT? I'm not on Facebook (unicorn), but it's looking like I'll have to join to find chickens!
We having a rare cold spell and have had a few below freezing spells. Mine do fine. I rarely have to clean mud off their feet. They are lap sitter chickens. I don't think you will find a friendlier bantam breed.
