Newbie Here...HELP! Lethargic and comb id pink & limp

It was probably almost a month before I realized she was setting. Thought she was just getting ready to lay her first egg,,,EVERY time I gathered eggs! Since I realized what was going on, I've separated her twice with no luck. If I close the door while they are free ranging the others can't get in to lay their eggs. :( So I decided to leave the rest of the hens IN the coop and leave her out with a rooster, hoping he could help protect her. I wasn't gone but a couple of hours and when I returned the rooster was gone (except for a few feathers and chunks of skin) and I had tracks of several dogs at the pen. :'( Needless to say, she is back in the coop, I put her out every time I go check on them, and I'm looking for a home that is more interested in tick control than eggs.

My hen didn't make it through the night. :(  It was very quick.  I do have another that has a pale, dry comb.  I have since read that this can be a sign that they are not laying.   I KNOW she is not laying because she won't stop setting.  I've taken her out of the coop for several days at a time.  She stops for a day or two and goes right back to the next.  She's lost all her breast feathers.  Don't know what to do to help her.

I'm so very sorry for you. With your new problem, the advice you have been given seems bery helpful. It's over my head, as I am a Newbie at this. You may want to start a new thread to get more advice. These Backyard Chicken folks ARE THE BEST!

You may need to make a broody box for her. Try searching those on here. Lots of ideas out there.
