A lot of great info on this page, first time chicken owner here, and so far me and my son are loving it.
I bought a used coop off Facebook roughly 5x8 in size with 4 spots for the hens to lay eggs. The person selling the coop also included multiple watering bowls and food bowls and multiple heat lamps.
I bought 6 chicks and 2 16 weeks old hens from a local farm. I wanted to do free ranging but with predators around here I didn’t want to risk it. I made a 4x10 run and attached it to the coop so they have a place to hangout and run around.
cant wait to start getting some eggs
