Newbie here....please help!

I was so afraid to check on her this morning for fear she would be worse or dead. But, she is as alert as can be. She was hungry and ate a good bit of her starter feed. I gave her more electrolyte water. She had a big poo beside her, but it was not stuck in her bottom as before. Also, I did not see any blood in or on her poo area this morning. She still is not able to use her feet or legs at all. It seems she has no feeling in her feet or the bottom half of her legs. Thoughts?

Not quite sure what could cause that, but she can poop, so maybe she just needs time? Can you take her to a vet?

Kathy, I ordered all of my pullets from Cackle Hatchery. I don't believe they were vaccinated. From what I have read, with Mareks, the chickens legs are split, with one pointed forward and the other pointed in the opposite direction. I'm not sure if that is true 100% of the time with Mareks. My chicken's legs are just laying off to one side. I wish I could post a pic, but for some reason, it won't post.

The splits position is probably almost always Marek's. Here are some Marek's pictures that I have collected.

I'm not saying that your hen has Marek's, just that you should keep it in mind. If she were mine I would continues to provide supportive care and see if she improves.

I am an newbie and have to helpful advice, I have just been following this thread to see what I can learn.

I wish you both the best!
Good luck!

I'm so glad it showed up. Does it look like Mareks? This is pretty much what she looks like all the time now. She will flap her wings some, but mostly just lays there and eats and drinks a little.

Kikisgirls, we are learning together!:)

It doesn't really look like Mareks to me, but I've never seen it in person. Most likely answer is she got heat stroke and has some neurological damage form that. According to that other story linked here, she has a good chance of recovering. Maybe try some of the things those people did, like lay her on her left side every so often.
