I am thinking about hatching a few duck eggs sometime.... I don't want an expensive incubator because I don't plan on using it much. I figured that a bator without an auto turner would be best for my needs, so I have a question about hand turning eggs:

Is the diagram below correct? When I first read about hand turning, I was imagining turning the egg upside down and stuff (lol). I hope that I got it right now ^_^ (diagram shows turning on side, btw)

Please don't mind the sloppy drawing, I didn't feel like spending a long time on it

Anyways... I won't be hatching any eggs anytime soon because my parents won't let me yet D= But maybe in a couple of years~!

I have turners for my incubators, but I think most folks do it as you have it pictured on the 'good' side.

yup...you got it right

tell them it is for a science fair! School related they gotta let you!!!

Thanks for the reply! I don't feel as n00bish now ^_^

That could work, lol ^_^ But my parents already think that I am responsible enough for a duck... it's just that we don't have the right kind of "environment" for a pet duck =/... We have too many hawks and possums (and two dogs).

We do have a pair of wild mallards that visits us every spring though~! They should keep me company until I am able to get an egg (I kinda tamed the male mallard. He's a cutie!)
