What's going on with this chicks butt?

It appears as if the tail is completely exposed.
Picked up 26 chicks about 48 hours ago from our local feedstore. This is the only chick that appears to be having any problem so far. She appears weak and is not eating as well as the others. Any ideas or suggestions?

Happy Easter from upstate New York.

It may be pasty butt, which is a blockage of dried poo and they cannot have a bowel movement. This can cause death. Just put the tail under warm water and with soapy fingers just massage if off--it will take a couple of minutes to soften. Check the chick every day for a week or so because it will probably happen again. Put a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar with the mother in it in a quart of water. Dip the chick's beak into the water to make sure it is drinking because it is usually caused by the stress of shipping. Make sure your heatlamp isn't too warm.

I agree probably pasty butt. I did the soapy warm water clean up. For me personally, I didn't add a lot of things to water & feed because they were so little & it boiled down yo shipping stress. Plenty clean fresh water, medicated chick feed, chick grit, good temp in clean brooder, & my 2 tricks for really bad cases: crushing some oatmeal flakes in feed & preparation H applied with q tip to the vent & surrounding area. Helps prevent poop sticking & reduces swelling/ discomfort.

Thanks for everyone's quick replies, especially on a holiday. Prior to reading the responses, we cleaned her up with warm water and rubbed baby oil around the area. We even went as far as to pick some of the dried poop out of her. We separated her from the rest because they were fiercely picking at her exposed backside. She is neither eating nor drinking. Just standing and supporting her head in the corner of her private area of the brooder.

I would be tempted to try the vinegar, but I only have distilled cider or balsamic. Neither have any visible mother. My homemade vinegar unfortunately dried up due to neglect.
