Hiya, and welcome to BYC!!Could scaly leg mites result in an eye problem like my hen is showing?
Yes, and I only added birds because I did not think the sole survivor of the random Husky attack which killed my other girls would fare well without buddies, since chickens are flocking animals. I guess I should have left well enough alone with only adding one other chicken. But I worried one of the two would die, and then we'd need to get more.Hello, and welcome to BYC. The problem with your hen sounds to be more physical than caused by an infectious entity. Does she have spurs, and are they elongated? When you add birds from multiple sources to your flock you always risk the possibility of introducing disease.
Hello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
The eye issue is likely not related to the walking issue. Can you post pictures of her legs?
This and the swollen eye makes me think she is a carrier of a respiratory disease that makes her symptomatic during times of stress. Can you post pictures of her swollen eye?

I agree. Sounds like MG and/or MS.
Her eye looks to be filled with pus. You need to get that out. Watch this video and it will show you how to do it.Thanks for the info. I lean toward MS. What do you think from these pics I took after I soaked her feet in Epsom Salt in warm water this morning, which she enjoyed. Her left eye is better this morning, not watery or goopy, and a few minutes ago it was more open than when I took these pictures. There is a little black bump atop one foot. Do you think the bottoms of her feet look okay? She has no spurs. Legs don't feel swollen at the top. She has a great appetite, devoured scrambled eggs and blueberries as I was soaking her feet. After I greased them with Vaseline she walked around a bit, as if it felt good. She pooped on the kitchen floor right after her foot soak, so I posted a pic of her poop which is a bit watery? I took her back to the coop, and she ate and drank with her buddies, eating shredded cabbage and mixed greens, along with chicken feed. My young white leghorn pecked at her, but I think it was a fight over the cabbage, not a sickness issue. She does seem a bit lethargic and stands back from the others some. She might be a bit weak, but she perked up and was pecking in the dirt. It's fairly warm here today outside, which is good. Going to be in the mid 40s.
