Hey All :frow
I’m a new chick mama and loving every second! Mine ISA browns are 4 weeks old now! I’ve got one girl that constantly finds her way to me on the couch...it’s her happy place, my lap, she gets the best naps there.
I’ve got the sweetest Maltese/Shi tzu who adores these chicks, he grew up with cats, bunnies and hamsters so he doesn’t have much of a prey drive at all. All friends in his eyes!
I’m so grateful for this group, since I got my chicks at aday old I’ve been coming on here to read questions and replies so I figured I should join in!
Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Aww I’m jealous by all the time you’re spending with your chicks. I just hatched a few chicks but I can’t give them individual attention right now except here and there.

What are your plans for these chicks?
We have a tiny house so they actually are in

Its been great bonding with them, that’s how I was at first too, I let them adjust for the first week then I started giving them more attention. I am hoping for eggs, but I’ve found watching chickens to be so therapeutic that I’d keep them even if they never laid a single egg!
hope you get more bonding time as they grow😁

Thank you. Well I hatched 15 chicks last month too and sometimes they approach me and sometimes not so much. Last month’s batch was more as an experiment. This one was more purposeful. I’m waiting three weeks before I begin collecting eggs for my next batch.

I am aiming more to begin hatching for meat with dual purpose birds, but I only have Red Sex Links and Australorps with a Production Red rooster. We shall see how that goes.

:welcome :frow:woot

Welcome from Georgia, the Poultry capital of the world (2018).. Glad you have joined this chicken crazy board.

Here is a quick link to the articles area, lots of info on this forum, just look around. Also if you have a specific question the search engine (top right) is actually very good..
