My name is Quita and I’ve recently decided to start raising chickens. Currently I have 4. I’ve had them for about a month. They’re around 12-13 weeks old and I haven’t figured out the sex nor breeds so any help and/or tips would be appreciated!
Can you also send pictures of their full body I think that will be more helpfulHello everyone! My name is Quita and I’ve recently decided to start raising chickens. Currently I have 4. Well my roosters started to grow tail feather at 13-14 weeks old, maybe it was too early but still I always succeed at identifying their genders just with that methodAt 12-13 week, a cockerels tail feathers won't be in.
At that age, the males will have much larger and redder combs and wattles than the pullets and may have started to grow in their long pointed saddle feathers which are the gender specific feathering. Pullets and hens will have rounded saddle feathers.
and by the way can behavior help identify genders in chickens, because roosters are always noisier and run around but Chickens are calm and don’t move around much, would that be helpfu? At 12-13 week, a cockerels tail feathers won't be in.

I've not found this to be the case.and by the way can behavior help identify genders in chickens, because roosters are always noisier and run around but Chickens are calm and don’t move around much, would that be helpfu?

I figured one was a rooster. I’ve been watching and looking for those saddle feathers to appear. You won't see gender specific feathering until around 15 weeks. You can post individual free standing pictures of your birds and we can let you know our opinions on gender.I figured one was a rooster. I’ve been watching and looking for those saddle feathers to appear. Nothing yet
