(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband and I are new to chickens we bought our girls from a family here in town that was leaving the state at the beginning of the month July 10th to be exact.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have six

(3) What breeds do you have?

We were told 2 barred rock, 2 buff orpingtons and 2 Rhode Island reds.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Eggs and how nice it is to sit and watch them doing their thing. I find it very peaceful.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I crochet, shuttle tat, journal and occasionally cross stitch

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I are from Texas (big city) and last year moved to a very small town in southeast colorado. We have two Australian Shepherds Ella (6 yrs old) and Sven (10 mos old).

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I am in the Facebook community and seen the website but I didn’t even realize there was a forum until today. 😂

We were told they are all hens. And on the Facebook group I was told I have a rooster. Now I need to figure out what to do since we are not supposed to have roosters not do we want roosters. My husband and I were just looking for laying hens.

The breeds were apparently wrong on some of the them based on what the previous owners told us. Barred rock, buff Orpington, and Rhode Island Red. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You do indeed have a roo in the back. You can try rehoming him on Facebook, Craigslist, your State thread, or the Buy ~ Sell ~ Trade section of this forum or to a friend/family/neighbor. Or you can turn him into dinner.

I'm seeing Barred rocks (the B&W birds), Easter Eggers (the rooster and orange with beard), and the orange and whites are either Red Sex Links or some variety or Easter Egger I've forgotten the name to.
