HIYA! I'm a new chick mommy here. What started as 10 small production reds from TSC has exploded into my original 10 (who now look like gangly teenagers) plus 20 more tinies in the brooder, I've managed to identify 3 silkies, 2 barred rocks, 2 australorps, and 1 cochin. Not even sure that the first 10 are production reds now lol. We went from a tiny coop that was a kit to a fully customized 20x20 barn with a huge run for "The babies" We have slowly built a small homestead here in our tiny town. We heat our home with wood, grow 2 gardens (1 for us and one for the deer). We also just today ventured into the realm of RABBITS. I homeschool our 4 kids and we even had a well dug this past year. Just not quite ready to give up my internet or satellite yet

I look forward to meeting and talking to you all!

I love your avatar. I don't think I could become a chicken even if I tried, I know I'd crush all the eggs. Probably need to be an emu, their eggs are large and very, very hard. So glad you decided to join the BYC flock. Would love to see photos of that customized barn? I suppose we are talking, hot tub, mood lighting and cable

Nah the hot tub is mine out on the deck where I can watch the chickens, wouldn't put it past em to use it though lmao! I will definitely get some pics up if this darn rain will ever stop! I'm glad to have found this forum where people understand what a brooder is and why they have taken over my unused dining room
