Hello everyone. In 2001 we bought and built our home on 10 acres in Brooksville, FL. I love it here. Very peaceful and it allowed me to give my children a little taste of country living. Our first adventure was with 10 Guinea keets that we purchased from out local feed store. As they grew older one turned out to be a chicken which I named Chickeeta. Feeling sorry for Chickeeta (being the only chicken) I ended up purchasing several more chicks to keep her company. That summer we ended up with 9 Guineas, 5 chickens and 2 geese. The kids went with me to the feed store one day and fell in love with the goslings and we just had to bring 2 home...lol.
Over the years my circumstances have changed and several years ago I became birdless. I decided it is time for me to get back into the swing of things and am planning my first attempt at hatching next week sometime when the eggs become available. I look forward to participating on the forum and making new acquaintances.

Hey hey we are also in Brooksville "sort of, Brooksville address but more between Wikkiwachi and Crystal River off 19"
Good luck with your hatch and the sunny side up thread has quite a few locals we have met.
what kinds of chickens are you hatching?
Next spring we hope to be getting eggs from our White Face Black Spanish and from my blue Sizzle and Blue splash silkie "these should have sizzles, silkies, frizzles and frilkies if I am not mistaken"
There was just a swap in Dunellon "about 30 minuted from Brooksville" with some good local people.
