Hi, I'm new to the chicken scene in Honolulu. I have two new little White Leghorns. Chickpea and William and are there names

William started out as a Wilamina, but that soon changed when "her" comb started growing a bit bigger than Chickpea's.. I cannot have a rooster where I live, and I'm hoping I might be able to find a nice farm for William to roam and crow and he pleases. So if there is anyone on the island that would like to take him, please let me know!!

Also, I had a question about the little dear, I may need to post in a different thread though if I can't get it answered by ya'll. About when do roo's start to crow. I wanted to keep he and Chickpea together as long as possible. And I'm seriously considering going out to get another chick to keep her company because I know that will be best for her.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

As far as when roos start to crow goes, there really isn't a definite time it happens. Some have had chicks just a week old (sometimes even younger) try to crow while I've seen roosters of mine not crow until they were 22 and 28 wks. old. I know that isn't very helpful, but each rooster is different so it would be hard to say when yours will crow.
