Hello BYC folks!
We are fairly new to the world of chickens. We discovered BYC while researching and preparing for our feather girls. Our four hens joined us as three day old chicks in March 2013. We have two Black Australorps and two Plymouth Barred Rocks.
Raising the tiny chicks was easy compared to planning and building the pen and coop. My husband initially built an enclosed pen to house the pullets through the summer. As the weather cooled down in the fall, he added a coop and nesting box addition. We made ready for winter with a heat lamp and water warmer. We have learned a wealth of information via BYC as we transitioned through the seasons of our first year of chicken ownership.
Many thanks to all who post here and their helpful information for the newbies!!!
