Hi everyone!
While my husband and I have been talking about raising a few chickens for years, we are totally new to this. I picked up 7 chicks of various colors last night at the feed store. I believe them all to be Silkies. I know that time will tell. We have been growing increasingly obsessed with the idea of adding Silkies to our family for some time.
We are totally 'neurotic' parents inspite of the research that we have done but hope to be old hands within a few years. All the information here at BYC along with the support of the community is something we are looking forward to and drinking up faster than our chicks are growing. Is it just me, or can I actually see them growing???
My husband Mike and I have a large property for a city (only 3/4 of an acre - but that's big for us) and have been turning it in to our magical garden for the last few years. We are hoping to think of it as an 'Urban Farm' in time and I will be selling plants and produce at the local Farmer's Market this spring for the first time.
Mike and I love animals, plants, outdoors, folk art, laughing, books, architecture, movies and food...not in that order.
Thanks in advance!
