Hi! My family is getting our first chickens tomorrow! We are super excited! We have 2 yr old twin boys and a 4 yr old boy, we live semi in the country and have our coop (finishing the run tonight). I will be free ranging the chickens most of the day, esp while we are outside playing I've done lots of fun research but Im just wondering what your best tips are, fave books and if you have advice about chickens and cats. We are getting 3 wyandottes, a brahma and an orpington, they'll be 9/10 weeks.
Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.
Sounds like you have an awesome family and a lovely flock!
It's hard to give tips without a specific topic to talk about. Always make sure your flock is safe and secure. Make sure they have food, water, calcium and light. Keep their living quarters clean and comfy. Fresh herbs in the nests are very healthy for hens.
