Newbie in SoCal deciding to raise 2 chickens in my small backyard... Suggestions appreciated!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and suggestions. I picked up my girls today and I am very excited about my new adventure!! Laverne is a Ameraucana and Shirley is a Plymouth Barred Rock. They are so cute and already have personalities. Laverne is a little on the shy side while Shirley is a little more friendly who likes to be petted. They turn 5 weeks old on Wednesday and I will keep them inside until my coop is up and ready. I am such a mother hen and have them in a box with a heating pad underneath to keep them warm at night. I can't wait to watch them grow up to be beautiful girls!
