Any tips on care and maintenance of Muscovy ducks? Thinking of getting some on our 2+acre farm. First time getting birds. Really excited. We are a family of 5 with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Will that be an issue? We also have a pond next to the house that I think the birds would love! Thank you for any advice you can share.

Only your dogs and cats know if they will be a problem. I don't know much about ducks, so I advise you post on the "duck thread." just put that in the search box and it will pop up.

Greetings from Kansas, Tiff82, and [IMG]! Pleased you joined our community! I've raised ducks before but not the Muscovy breed. Here's a link to some awesome duck articles though:
Hard to say on the dog/duck interaction. I have five forms of fowl at the moment and a chocolate lab and golden retriever that simply ignore them. Here's a link to dealing with a dog that bothers chickens - can't think the foundation would be any different for ducks:
And a link about socializing dogs to poultry:
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!! [IMG]
