I am in the lovely Train Derailment town of Wega! And I should mention that I miscounted my eggs, I have 46 not 47.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

I was at the poultry/rabbit swap meet this weekend at the Fairgrounds and picked up 14 Ameraucanas, and 4 Australorpes which are being incubated for friends, the rest are a mutt mix from my brother-in-law's sister (bantys, leghorns, production reds) and they will go back to her. Since I live in town I can't keep chickens, but someday when we move out of town I would love to have some of the heritage breeds like Marans, and of course some of the Ameraucanas since I love their egg colors. This is my first time hatching eggs so I am a nervous wreck watching the temps and humidity! I have 4 thermometers in the 'bator (one digital, two stick and the one that came with the 'bator) just so I have a good indication as to the temp! Nutso I know, but the picky scientist in me prevails!!

The kids are enjoying this entire experience, I can't wait to candle the eggs to see who is fertile and who is not! Thank goodness they have been through the egg and chick rearing process with our Budgies, so the inevitable death of the babies will not be too hard to handle.

Looking forward to the first weekend in May!

The swap was COLD! I was there for an hour and could barely move my fingers!

A lot of rabbits were there, but there were a lot of birds too. My BIL's sister picked up 8 production reds, and a few other birds (I have no idea what) before she decided to call it quits. It looked like a pretty good crowd was there and that a lot of people were buying.
