Hello! I live in Medford, Wisconsin, which now allows chickens to be kept in the city :)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got our first chicks last year in 2010 for the kids to raise and perhaps show in 4-H. We had 2 Ameraucanas and 2 red ones (I don't remember the breed... lol). Once they were big enough they left us to live in Grandma's chicken coop.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
As of now we don't have any chickens, but we are going to be moving and I hope to oneday have my own coop.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have been reading about different breeds and have decided to get a breed that can withstand winters well, but I think Ameraucanas are very beautiful and hope to get more (or get ours back from my mother-in-law)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was doing searches about chicken breeds and coops on Google and here I am :)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love animals and have always had pets growing up. I am getting bored with the usual small animals so chickens seems like a step I am ready to take :p I enjoy crafting and partake in plastic canvas, jewelry making, and puzzles, which I glue and frame.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 4 children, ranging in ages from 10-1. They all love our pets, which include Bubbles (a terrier/chiuaua mix), Dewey and Butters (2 very spoiled kitties), and soon to be 2 rabbits (still un-named as we don't have them yet. I felt bad for them as they were being given away and I knew the kids would love them) :) Right now I am a stay-at-home mom but would like to go back to work someday. We are moving soon from a mobile home in a trailer park to a house outside of the city with a backyard and room for the animals and the kids to play. I hope that the township allows chickens (fingers crossed).
