Newbie in Wisconsin

They are doing GREAT!!! We got 2gold stars, 1 Easter Egger, 1 silver laced Wyandotte, 1 black Australorp, and 1 buff Orpington. I have them where they will follow me to the coop at night after roaming their larger fenced area all day. One of the gold stars will eat out of my hand and let me pet her. The rest will follow me at a distance. But I'm working on that

That's a great selection of breeds. Your Gold Stars will be laying machines, your Buff Orpington and Black Australorp will likely become pets, your Silver Laced Wyandotte will probably become queen of your coop, your Easter Egger will give you some type of unusual colored eggs, and you'll have a lot of fun with all of them. Her name fits her--Queen Tracy as named by our 6y/o. I can't wait to see the EE's eggs. She has pretty greenish blue legs, the breeder said that is indicative of the color eggs she will lay--in your experience is that true?

Hey! I'm from Minnesota and we are newbies, too. We have four - Silver laced wing Wyandotte, Barred Rock, Ameraucana and a Buff Orpington - all are good hens - the Ameraucana being the most curious and bold - the wyandotte is shy but nice (and beautiful) - the Rock is the first to the door for treats and the Buff Orpington is a sweet, shy, gentle girl. You'll be happy with any of those breeds. I'm not familiar with the Star breed. Good luck!!

The Easter Eggers greenish legs have no direct relationship to the color of eggs she will lay. Most EEs have greenish legs (it's an easy way of identifying them as EEs), but they lay eggs in a variety of colors (blue, olive, green, beige, and even pale pink and gold). There is no way to know which of these colors she will lay until she actually begins laying. My granddaughter likes the pale pink eggs the best.
