(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! My family got 9 chicks three weeks ago. We live on 3 acres on the outskirts of town. We are zoned for chickens. We told our city friend, and he asked to co-op 5 more chicks for him.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Our combined flock is at 14.
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 speckled Sussex, 3 gold laced wyandonettes, 3 ISA browns. The bonus 5 were supposed to be Asian Blacks (we got our chicks at Rural King and Hoover's Hatchery is the supplier; Asian Blacks are one of their hybrids). However, I not sure if that is what we have. I think there might be a Black Jersey Giant or 3 in the mix.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Ballroom dancing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband , daughter and I have two dogs. One is a setter and the other is a Boston Terrier. I not sure if the setter will ignore the chickens... We will see.
