Hey ya’ll!
I’ve been reading messages on this site for a couple of years and decided it was time for me to stop lurking at the entrance and start participating in the conversation!
My first hatch was 17 Turkeys from 19 eggs from a local farm. Half were wild and half were domestic birds. I incubated them in my living room and brooded them on my dining table in a large cardboard box. Half of the eggs had been orphaned when the momma was eaten by something, the other half were more than the farm I got them from could handle. I was unprepared for how much a broody mother hen I would turn into over the next few weeks!
I have recently begun to hatch my flock of chickens that include Barred Plymouth Rocks, Ayam Cemani and Whiting True Blue. Indian runner ducks, for organic garden pest control and delicious eggs are next!
I am so thankful for all the great information this community has created!
