Hello! Great to have access to such a wealth of knowledge! Texas backyard chicken mama here with answers to intro question 
1) I have had chickens for a year and a half so still figuring it out.
(2) I only have room for a small flock of five, though I always wish for more
(3) At the moment I have one Rhode Island Red, one Dominique ( both 18 months) and three Golden Orpingtons (all 9 months old). The Red is the top of the pecking order with the Dominque second in command, though they are both outweighed greatly by the younger Orpingtons. No rooster in the flock as the city codes where I am prohibit them.
(4) Besides fresh eggs, I love the companionship of chickens when I am working outside and watching their interactions with each other.
(5) I also have an ever- expanding raised bed and herb garden and enjoy the challenge of growing flowers and veg in Texas.
(6) I am former homeschooling mother of six who are all adults now and have blessed me with seven grandchildren so far. I work part time with an event company and my husband is a 30- year employee of FedEx freight, driving locally.
(7) I found BYC on the internet when my chicken journey began as I wanted info beyond webpages and product sites. The help I have found has been awesome! Thank you!!
