Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Since my post, I found 3 chickens for sale. They were $2 each. The man told me that they are about 2 years old (old, I know, but they will satisfy my itch until I can get my quail hatched and can get some chicken eggs in the incubator (aka-"Eggsy Bake Oven" around my little helpers).
I now have one RIR, and 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes (head hen (I think) has a bald butt, though feathers are starting to grow back already.)

My quail eggs are on day 6-taking for-ev-er! Tomorrow's candling day, right?) I'm nervous about that and yet very excited!

I just remembered that there used to be a round chicken coop where we now plant our garden. It wasn't in very good shape (but could easily have been fixed up), but dad wasn't into chickens and is not a carpenter by any means and he tore it down. He was afraid that my sister and I might get hurt, though I think that he thought it was an eye sore. My grandpa never forgave him for knocking that down and mentioned it again to me a week before he passed away. Now that I'm into chickens, I'm a little sore over it too, because it was a part of the farm. (There is nothing left to show that there was even a farm here anymore. That was always a sore spot with grandpa and he mentioned about it again to me like a week before he passed away. We shared the same birthday and had a lot in common. Now, I'll have to celebrate my birthday alone next year.
