Hi! I'm Carma. I'm a middle-aged woman with dna from literally every continent, including Native American, born and raised in America. I love animals, so much so I refuse to eat them or their by products. I have 17 chickens at the moment with plans to add a few more in the spring. I have 10 laying hens, a flock of 6 BBS Silkies + 1 Red Silkie Mama and her single chick. Red and Chick were rescues from a farm overran by rats. I mostly keep chickens for the pure joy they bring me, feeding their eggs to my dogs and back to the chickens themselves, occasionally giving a particularly beautiful dozen to a beloved family member or friend who enjoys them.
My layers include: Easter Eggers, Americuanas, ISA Browns/Red Stars, Brahma, Plymouth Barred Rock, and assorted Wyandotte's. Adding more Wyandotte's, EE's, Australorp, Speckled Sussex, and at least one more Red Star.
We have 4 German Shorthaired Pointers, 3 rescue cats, 17 chickens, at least 30 Koi and goldfish (Hubby hand dug a custom pond, it's his hobby), 3 turtles, and 1 tortoise. I have secondary progressive MS, along with half a dozen other autoimmune diseases, but I'm healing while a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle. l highly recommend everyone eat this way...it's truly amazing. I love to learn.
