Newbie needs advice

You will know if they are attacking you... It won't back down when food is put down and it will puff up really big and beat you with its wings. I have seen mine do this only once and it was because someone went in their pen and started poking them.. and a hen did it once to me or acted like she was going to once when I tried to take her eggs from her because she wanted to go brooder... I let her keep her eggs!

I have chickens that when I enter the coop jump up on the feed scoop.

From these pictures they either look like a bronze or easter wild turkey. did you buy them from someone?

As for the wild turkeys? if they have a way to get to them they could join them or if you have a tom they could fight.

They look alit older then 4 months. At the size of them you shoudl be able to tell if you ahve a tom because by now they will be showing out. mmy 3 month and younger show out for the ladies

It probably has to do with the food. I know its not the same animal but I have a very old black Angus bull who we are feeding to fatten up some before we take him to the market. He has always been the most lovable thing ever. A great gentle bull. But whenever I go out with the food he gets VERY aggressive. Ive been chased down a few times. Luckily my experience with cattle allowed me to escape unharmed. But animals (males more than females) can be very overexcited about food which can lead to aggression.

kanga what is showing out? they don't gobble they make a kinda crooning sound. I dont have a coop or anything really for them...so the wild ones could come down but most dont because of my dogs. And they were given to my girls.

If all else fails take the garden hose with you, negative re enforcment seems to work well for unwanted behaviour, a couple of squirts with the water hose seems to work well, the aggresive one I had now makes a wide birth of me, only needed to squirt him a few times.

These are my babies.....the feathers have grown in a bit on their backs.....I really don't know much at all about them. Can they be food aggresive? That is when the wing flapping and flying at me happens (it happened again this morning.....how should I react to discourage this?

ok day 3 of issue......husband fed everybody about 3 hors earlier then normal....no aggresive behavior towards him

.....now how to convince them that just because I am outside doesn't mean that i need turkey love

it only happens for morning feeding and with hubby feeding this morning it didn't happen at all.......when im not feeding he is either outside doing his thing or if i have my door open he will come in and sit in the corner watching me.....

I think I would try having enough food in feeder that they are not looking at you as a Competitor
I had a rooster that got agreesive and nothing could be done when he chased my neighbor down the road
it was time he went to freezer camp!!

The next one I got I fed him a little treat of some kind lettace or a bite of bread or some meal worms.. He got to where he would
come running when I called chick chick and broght the whole flock with him..

this was great when they were in pasture and we wanted to go somewhere could call and get them all in pen.

I did this with our turkeys last year and had same result but I also left plenty of food for turkeys in feeder.
Worked for me might be worth a try.
