We picked up 5 new chicks yesterday from a local hatchery. They were all eating and drinking fine lastnight but this morning, one of the new chicks seem sick. All she does is lay there with her head down and make very rough chirps. When you pick her up, her chirps seem normal and strong.she can move but she only goes a couple steps and sits back down.she doesn't seem to be interested in food or water

Some chicks just don't make it. There is no obvious problem, but they are smaller, weaker, don't grow out like they should, don't feather in properly, etc. That is called failure to thrive, and there is little to be done about it.

Try hand-feeding her some sugar water to perk her up. If she won't take it, or it doesn't work, then...There is not much to be done about it. As I said...some chicks just don't make it.

That happens. It could mean something or it could mean nothing. I've seen chicks that have the scabby naval do just fine, but others seem to just weaken, sicken and die.

Did you try the sugar water?

Not yet, I just got home. Someone called me and had 4 day old game pullets they didn't want lol, yea I'm addicted lol
