newbie needs help...

ok I need help.... my son is raising Feather legged birds (cochin and DeUccles) he has a few with their feet feathers are quite broken... they are bedded on clean shavings but I just cant seem to keep them from breaking.... do I pull the broken feathers... ?? How.... ?? show in May...do I still have time..??

I sometimes pull foot (and sickle) feathers and 3 months sounds like plenty of time to grow back nice new feathers... feed high protien after you pull.

ok so how do I pull them...?? how many can I pull at once...?? I hate to make them sore....

I probably need to pull one tail feather and a few 3-4 feathers on each foot.... its that ok...??
