Hello and welcome!
Since you’ll be keeping a rooster I would suggest and easy tempered and docile breed for your starter flock, such as the Buff Orpington. Also, I recommend a few more than 2 hens to avoid over breeding, which can leave your girls bare backed!

I think I've decided to leave it a rooster for now. I do now know that I want smaller breeds of chicken. Bantams for instance
