Hello. My name is Jennifer Smith. I finally registered on this site. My husband and I have cared for chickens for 3 to 4 years. We have one black silkie hen at this point. We have had red stars and an Araucana in the past.

I found out about BackYardChickens by doing a search on chicken websites. I joined the BackYardChickens in order to continue to learn about chickens.

My husband and I live in northern Illinois in an unincorporated area. We both work full-time and are also raising our 11 year old grandson.

One main priority though is to purchase more silkie hens or other gentle breed in the short term. Any help in resources in our area would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jennifer, it's nice to have you join us! Best of luck in finding the birds you want. Since you already have 1, be sure to read up on isolation and integration so everything goes as well as possible.
