Hello! I'm a new member with 5 rapidly-growing chicks:
- Isadora - Silver-laced Wyandotte
- Malvolia - Buff Orpington
- Bunny - Easter Egger
- Freya - Lavender Orpington
- Frieda - Blue Splash Maran

They're about 4 weeks old now, spending most of the daytime in the chicken run outside when we have temperatures like today, and the nightime in the garage. Note to self for next time: Don't get chicks delivered in Massachusetts until at least mid-late April as it was very cold...
Looking forward to getting good advice from this group - we had 20 chickens when I was a kid, and I'm loving my kids' interest and involvement already!

from Central Oregon!!

I don't know what your temperatures are but, 4 week old chickens would still be in a brooder under a heat lamp. At hatch the temp. should be 95 degrees and lowered 5 degrees each succeeding week until they are fully feather out and can go to the outdoor coop

Welcome to BYC!

You have a great assortment of breeds! It is great that you can get them outside for some field trip time, but as Drumstick Diva has said, they probably still need additional heat in your climate. So be careful they are not chilling.

Make yourself at home here on BYC and welcome to our flock!

I have 24 red stars, so I have not even thought of naming them all. I can barely tell them apart.
