A chicken friend told me to avoid Tractor Supply's coops. Checking to see if anyone else has an opinion? They seem to be reasonably priced. But if they fall apart, or are particularly difficult to maintain or clean, then they wouldn't be the best decision.

Any advice? I'm guessing no more than a half dozen hens.

Welcome! Home built, or modifying a garden shed, are the best options for a coop. Having enough space for your birds to be comfortable, and safe from predators, and well ventilated; then walk-in, not doghouse sized, so you are comfortable managing it.
Your climate matters, and how many chickens you plan to have. 'Chicken math' is a huge risk; unless you are limited to a very few birds by zoning, your flock may grow A LOT as time passes! I started with fewer than six bantams, and now have 45 birds! Mary

:welcome hey joined at great time all kinds of help as you can see but we have learned you can even buy the metal ones less money but insulate then sheet rock with shower panels is the best good part they do not rot no need for a floor but get ready for cutting a whole for your girls and deep litter inside
