Hello, Im not only new to BYC I'm new to raising chickens. And I've overwhelmed myself with all the info I've read an I'm still a little confused on the sex of my chickies an dont no where to post my questions an pictures.

My hubby made the coop an run out of scraps he had. It still needs a lil work but we had to get the chicks out of my bathroom.

Move in day an they seem to like it. Ive been told I've got a Dominic, White Leghorn an a Buff Orpington an their 7weeks now. Do you agree with the breeds? An can you tell if they're male or female?

These 2 chicks are 3weeks old I'll move them to the coop once they're fully feathered. Can you tell the sex an breed? Im told they're Amaricanas

My husband says I broke the pitbull, when the chicks peak at her shes backs off (first she gets puncked by the cat, now the chickens) she wants to play but not gonna happen! She plays to rough!!

The coop is 4x4x4 an the run is just a lil bigger. Is this big enough for 5 chickens? They'll have the whole backyard to free range for the day once my dog has done her morning business an comes in for the day. Yes shes a spoiled indoor dog. Like I said I'm a newbie an would love feedback. Thank You in advance :)

Hi, welcome to BYC!!!

Your coop and chickens are lovely! Yes, I do believe the breeds are correct. Those three breeds are very good layers. EEs not as much.
Some close up pictures of each individual chicken would be great. Head and tail feathers, esp.
Did you buy them all as pullets? From what I can see they all look female. They're hard to see.
I think chickens are supposed to have 3 sq. feet each (mine have less

, but they do free range all day).

Hope this helps!

The older ones look like pullets to me. The white one, if it's a leghorn, still looks like a pullet..if something else, like a white rock..not quite sure. The younger ones are too early to tell. There are a lot of places to ask...go to the search bar. Type in, what sex are these. Post close up photos of the combs, and then the whole body. See what ya get!

Actually rule of thumb is 4-5 sq .feet floor space per bird in the coop not including the nest boxes and roosts. And 10 sq.feet per bird in the outdoor run. I really can't make out the combs in the photos but, they do seem to be the correct breeds.

You can post photos also at "what breed or gender if this." Good luck with your young flock. Very nice birds.
