Is it necessary to have a heat lamp when you live in a very hot climate? I want to get some week old chicks not sure if they need to stay warm or room temps are ok. Outside over 100
I live in Southern Utah, and I still use a heat lamp on my chicks at night... I guess it depends on where you are and the temps at night... I used to live in Pahrump, NV before I moved to Utah and I remember it getting over 115 out there sometimes during the day...
I'm no expert though....
Where do you plan on brooding them and what temp will it be where the chicks are? Asking, because you asked, if room temps are good. I'm thinking maybe you will have them indoors. If that's the case, yes they will need a heat source.
