Hey ALL!!!This is my first post!!!! :-) I just want to say thanks for the wealth of knowledge on here!!! I was going to run my coop plan to everyone and see if I'm missing anything. Our family got 6 baby chicks last Saturday 2 buff orps, ameraucana, 2 gold laced wyandotte, and a japanese batam. I am trying to come up with design for our coop/run. I'm thinking the run will be about 8x10. I may go ahead and stretch it to 10X10 and prob go with a coop 10X6 or 8x6 depending on which width we use with 3-5 nesting boxes. The coop will sit 18-24 inches off the ground. I have a few questions. First for the top of the run should I cover it with some sort of pvc roofing or use chicken wire or hardware cloth? We live in the North Ga mountains so we get a mix of heat and cold this winter has been really cold here. Also what would be the best to do on the floor of the coop. Ive read some use black jack roofing tar from lowes, others use hardware cloth so poop falls out, some use linoleum, I want it easy to clean as Im a firm believer if its easy to clean your likely to do it more often. I def want room to grow. Thanks so much for your time sorry this is so long lol...

I used a 10x10 dog kennel with suntuff roofing on it, it was simple to work with and has worked great. I used vinyl flooring tiles for simple cleaning, I like the solid floor we need it up here with the bad winters. You will want to make everything as big as your budget will allow it's easier to do it now rather than later.

Where did you get the roofing? Do the tiles ever come up? A friend of mine put some down in a enclosed trailer and the glue dried out.

I got the roofing at home depot I used solar grey, the tiles haven't come up yet, got them at Lowe's on the clearance shelf for. 05 cents whole floor for $1.28, here's a pic.
