So we planned for about four chickens and built our coop around 4x4' and about 3' high inside with three nesting boxes 14x14". Then I found out my feed store sells chicks in lots of 6 due to state law. I know...should have known this, but live and learn. So here I am with six chicks (no roosters) and wondering if my coop will suffice for space. We are in NY and just getting into warmer weather. We will have a large pen area outside for them to forage and go out on nice days. I'm more worried about the inside space. I have Barred Rocks.
If anyone can let me know if I'm going to have space issues (esp in winter months when confinement will be frequent, that would be great. Obviously I can build another space but not sure if this is necessary.
Thank you in advance.
